Knowledge Armchair

Visual look and sensorial experience play a wicked game. Brutalist proportions, minimalism and rough shapes turn into warm and soft touch, organic texture, and the maximum comfort and ergonomics.

The seat, a massive solid wood slab seems to float over the floor, cantilevered under the armrests, which move forward from the rear legs/columns. A lower balustrade distribute the load, giving the whole structure its architectural essence.

The distribution of forces, angles and counterbalances at the joint between the base and the back rest, make the main body of the armchair seem to levitate above the ground.

Brutalistic, architectural and massive armchair, made out of solid ash and brass. Wood has been burned till dead black and hand burnished to make hard rings pop up from surface, giving it an animal skin touch.

Furniture – throne arm chair. Black charred solid ash and solid brass fittings. Traditional japanese joinery. Seating base elevation: 13 degrees. Back tilt: 120 degrees from ground. Extremely ergonomical layout.
