REFECTORY CHAIR

The deceptive slenderness of this chair design contrasts with a massive and mighty structure. Two solid wood trapezoids perfectly aligned and jointed build the backrest, pointing the sky like a black stairway of shimmering rungs, or like a take off runway to the stars. Slanted plains, vanishing point angles and charred surfaces make our mind wander in secret temples, post apocaliptyc landscapes and ruins of cosmic observatories from ancient civilizations, extinguished long time ago.

“Shou sugi ban” ebonizing technique makes the woodrings pop up, giving the wooden surface a kind of fantastic animal skin texture. Brass front legs have been cnc milled to get the exact angled cut, allowing the top fitting to dig seamlessly into the tilted seating base.
